What is PicoSure Laser for Acne Scars
PicoSure Laser for acne scars is the only FDA approved laser. PicoSure’s Focus Lens is hexagonal, closed packed diffractive lens array which is 500μm centre to centre. Because more energy is concentrated into the small spot, it makes it 20x more powerful than normal lens.
By delivering short bursts of picosecond energy (laser pulses that are 10 times shorter in duration than a traditional Q-switched laser) more laser shots can be delivered with each pulse staying on the skin for a shorter duration. The benefit of this is that less heat is generated in the skin, causing significantly less damage to the skin tissue.
Through its targeted mode of energy delivery, the PicoSure laser is able to reach the dermis layer, improving acne scars with the formation of new collagen and elastin production.
The Picosure’s 755nm Alexandrite wavelength is an excellent balance between the 532nm and 1064nm. It can selectively target the melanin and blood vessels without hurting the skin from high thermal damage.
